Above are two Make up Advertisements in Closer and Heat,
Both of these adverts have some running conventions through them. Both of the
adverts have an image of a woman wearing the make up being advertised, this is
done suggests how beautiful a woman could become with the makeup. There is also
an image of the make-up; this is so that in the shops customers can identify
the make up out of all of the rest, because it is so good/iconic. Also the text
used relates to the makeups selling point, for example top left presents
phrases like ‘red that lasts’, this illustrates the USP of the
product its durability. When I asked Five female colleague about the effectiveness of these
adverts, they all replied saying the same thing, they liked how there was an
image of the female with the make up on, also an image of the make-up, They
thought that it was ideal because they could identify the make-up easier, this
makes them less stressed and shortens the time when looking for the make up in
the long isles.
Although Make-up is targeted predominately to females, we feel
as though we will be able to incorporate some of the ideas into our Digipak for
marketing, by using phrases and text that relates to what we are marketing, for
like ‘Take Care’ is the album, with ‘Crew Love’, therefore I think that love
and friendship should be featured, but alongside with running with our
conventions of the rap video. Also the key element is that we are going to
picture Anoop ‘Drake’ in the centre of the advert. The artist is the main
selling point; this is what the customers are buying into so this is the most
prominent feature.
